August 2006 - Meet and begin dating Jeff
Jan/Feb 2007 - Dr. L appt. and blood tests - FSH 88.9 LH 68.2 ; Dr. L proposed POF possibility
April 2007 - Progesterone challenge test...no withdrawl bleed
May 2007 - Start BCP in hope it will get my cycles on track ; FSH 61.4 LH 48.0 Estrodiol 19
- among marriage talk also talk to Jeff about POF and possibility of no kids
June 2007 - Jeff and I get engaged
October 26, 2007 - Jeff and I are married; Best day EVER!!
November 2007 - BCP prescription runs out and I freak out (in a bad way) thinking I'll actually get pregnant...silly me
December 3, 2007 - Appointment with Dr. L (Jeff comes with). FSH: 77.9 Dx'd officially with POF and cry like a baby in her office. I had just turned 27 in October.
January 2008 - Appt with Dr. G (RE) - given little to no hope of natural pregnancy occurring; he wants to return me to BCPs and I refuse...start HRT
February 2008 - spontaneous period... some hope
July 2008 - POF study at NIH in Bethesda, MD
- Bad news: FSH results : 105, 74, 85 ; U/S show very small left ovary and unable to find right ovary; no follicles
- Good news : Karyotype normal and DEXA scan is normal - no signs of osteoporosis
- no known cause for POF...told it can't be related to RAI but I will always wonder
August 2008 - Follow-up visit with Dr. G ; adjusts levothyroxine and tells us to contact them when we want to pursue DE IVF.
August 2009 - Appointments with Dr. G in order to apply for grant for DE IVF. No change in POF and still no sign of ovary function. Grant application is declined or not awarded in October.
November 2009 - Research DE IVF more, meet with Nurse G for the first time and continue to save money. Not much focus on infertility this year due to lack of information and funds.
January 2010 - Pursue DE IVF cycle. Choose donor and begin setting appointments for testing and evaluations.
March/April 2010 - DE IVF cycle set. Transfer set for the end of April.
April 23rd/28th - Donor's retrieval followed by my 5-day transfer of two beautiful blasts.
May 4th - Cheat and take a home pregnancy test...BFP :)
May 9th (Mother's Day) - Beta results : 1049 Happy Mother's Day!
May 24th - Ultrasound and two heartbeats. We are expecting twins in January 2011 :)
December 28th, 2010 - Kendall and Seren have arrived!! Now the real adventure begins.
September 2013 - Begin FET cycle and have a recipient couple lined up for remaining embryos
October 15, 2013 - FET transfer of one solid looking blastocyst. Given a 50-60% chance of a live birth. Although we're later advised they were only rated fair (although hatching) and our odds should not have been given so high. During the next week I start getting risen hives and itching at the PIO injection sites. They get worse as time goes on and my pregnancy test gets bumped up in case we need different meds. The intended recipient couple of remaining embryos has a positive pregnancy test and backs out of receiving embryos. A very short time later we get the negative cycle news.
October 25, 2013 - BFN. Failed cycle. I really believe that my reaction to the PIO shots had something to do with it. We look into treating autoimmune factors that may be present. The intended recipients end up having a chemical pregnancy but decide to put off donor egg with their own possibilities opening up. I really believe this was fate or God stepping to give us one last chance at baby #3. We are looking at trying another FET cycle...possibly in January. We decide to use a prednisone/steroid treatment for 5 days prior to next transfer.
January 1, 2014 - Happy New Year! FET cycle #2 begins. In addition to typical cycle I will take a steroid 5 days prior to transfer (to suppress autoimmune possibility) and also do a endometrial scratch the month prior to this cycle (hopes it will increase chances).
January 21st - FET #2 Transfer Day. We transfer two embryos (one graded fair and one graded poor). Given a 40% chance or less of either sticking.
January 31st - BFP. Beta is 303 at 10dp5dt
October 2, 2014 - Nolan joined our family. We are so excited and blessed.
