The C-Section vs "Down-There" delivery debate

I was all settled in with a plan at the beginning of this. Have a doctor who allowed for twins to be delivered vaginally if possible. And then if the babies agreed to it with their position I was all 100% for trying to have them vaginally. Now I'm in debate and not sure where to lean and goodness only so much time to decide.

At my last appointment the girls were head-down and head up side by side. Baby A (presenting twin) was head down and has been the last three appointments or more. Dr B doesn't think that she will change position between now and delivery. Baby B is head up but more side by side and less uterine hogging then she was last time. So I asked Dr B what the factors were between a possible vaginal and c-section delivery. He said that with his patients if the presenting twin was head down then he was okay with allowing for a "down-there" delivery (yah I know...what ob/gyn can't say vaginally?) He also went on to say that quite a few women with twins would just automatically do c-sections due to studies showing it puts undue stress on the twin that comes second. I asked what his opinion was on the studies and his experience and he hasn't seen problems with the second twin in his practice. But he said there's always the chance of problems or the chance you get one "down-there" delivery and still need a c-section for the second. He believes and supports the right or ability to try for a vaginal birth and didn't seem worried about the possible outcomes. He also just said to trust the mother's intuition and knowing what is the right choice.

Definitely need to read up and feel it out a little more now though. Big decision to make. Jeff is willing to support whatever I want to do but with the possible study suggestions and other information I think he's leaning more to the c-section option (truth is I'm a little more leaning there too now). Still a little time to decide though.

I'd go for the c-section. The recovery is longer, but I'd hate to go through one vaginal delivery and then up having a c-section too. It all depends on their positions too. I had an unplanned c-section with my daughter--wish it was planned! Good luck on making a decision...it's a tough one!
